What a graphic designer résumé has to show

  1. Portfolio URL in the contact line, live and not password-gated
  2. Tools named exactly as job descriptions write them (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
  3. Surface and scale: brand, packaging, campaign, product UI — and how many
  4. Business outcomes where they exist, not just deliverables

Bullets you can adapt

Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.

  • Rebuilt the brand identity across 40+ touchpoints; guidelines now used by 3 agencies without review
  • Designed the packaging range for 12 SKUs that shipped into 900 retail stores
  • Built the design system in Figma — 120 components — cutting new-page design time roughly in half
  • Art-directed the campaign that ran across 6 markets and lifted brand-recall survey scores 14 points
  • Produced 60+ assets per month across social, email and paid, with a two-day average turnaround
  • Cut print-production errors to zero across 3 print runs by introducing a pre-press checklist
  • Reduced asset request turnaround from 5 days to 2 by templating the 8 most-requested formats

And the ones to cut

These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.

  • Created visually appealing designs for various marketing materials
  • Collaborated with the marketing team on campaigns
  • Detail-oriented designer with a strong eye for aesthetics

Graphic Designer résumé questions

Should a graphic designer's résumé be heavily designed?

Restrained. It must still parse: one column, real text, no text inside images. Show craft in typography and spacing, not in a layout a machine cannot read. Our ATS-safe templates are built for exactly this.

Portfolio or résumé first?

The portfolio decides, the résumé qualifies. Put the URL in the contact line where a recruiter's eye lands, and make sure it opens without a password.

How do I show impact as a designer?

Reach and reuse. How many touchpoints, SKUs, markets, components — and who used your work without needing you in the room.

Start from this example, then make it yours.
