Teacher résumé example for 2026

A teaching CV needs the subject, the age range and the curriculum on the first line. After that, show class sizes, attainment movement and the responsibilities you held beyond your own timetable, because heads recruit for the whole role.

What a teacher résumé has to show

  1. Subject, key stage or year groups, and curriculum (IB, Abitur, national)
  2. Class sizes and total pupils taught
  3. Attainment or progress data you influenced
  4. Teaching qualification and registration status

Bullets you can adapt

Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.

  • Taught 6 classes of 24 to 29 pupils across Years 7 to 11, roughly 160 pupils a week
  • Raised the proportion of pupils reaching the expected standard in GCSE-equivalent maths from 62% to 79% over two cohorts
  • Rewrote the Year 9 scheme of work across 34 lessons, adopted by all 5 teachers in the department
  • Ran a targeted intervention group of 12 pupils, 10 of whom improved by at least one grade band
  • Mentored 3 trainee teachers through their placement year, all passing at first assessment
  • Cut low-level disruption referrals in my classes from 22 a term to 6 with a revised seating and routines plan
  • Led a residential trip for 48 pupils and 6 staff with full risk assessment and no incidents

And the ones to cut

These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.

  • Responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Passionate educator dedicated to helping every child succeed
  • Maintained a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Teacher résumé questions

Where do I put my teaching qualification?

Directly under your name and again in education, with the awarding body and year. Schools screen for qualified status before anything else, and an unclear qualification line gets a CV set aside even when the classroom experience is strong. If you are working towards it, state the completion date.

Should I include pupil attainment data?

Yes, but frame it honestly as cohort movement rather than personal credit. Writing that the proportion at expected standard rose from 62% to 79% across two cohorts you taught is defensible, whereas claiming you raised results by 17 points invites a difficult interview question about intake changes.

How do I show I am ready for a leadership post?

Show whole-department work, not just classroom practice. Schemes of work adopted beyond your room, trainees mentored, budgets or trips led, and data you presented to senior leadership are what distinguish a strong teacher from a candidate ready for head of department.

Start from this example, then make it yours.
