Paralegal résumé example for 2026

Paralegal hiring is about practice area and document volume. Say which area of law, how many matters you supported and what you drafted unsupervised, because supervising solicitors need to know exactly what they can hand you.

What a paralegal résumé has to show

  1. Practice area and matter types supported
  2. Caseload volume and value where relevant
  3. Documents you draft independently versus under supervision
  4. Case management and e-discovery systems by name

Bullets you can adapt

Every one names a system or a surface, a change, and a number. Take the shape, not the figures — substitute your own and keep them defensible.

  • Supported 3 fee earners on a rolling caseload of 70 commercial litigation matters
  • Prepared 46 court bundles, including one 4,200-page trial bundle delivered 5 days before hearing
  • Reviewed 18,000 documents during disclosure on a single matter and coded them in Relativity over 7 weeks
  • Drafted 120 first-instance letters of claim and response a year, with under 5% returned for substantive change
  • Ran due diligence data rooms on 9 corporate transactions with a combined value of €140m
  • Recorded 1,450 chargeable hours in a year against a 1,300 target
  • Cut file opening and conflict check time from 3 days to 8 hours by rebuilding the intake checklist

And the ones to cut

These are duties and adjectives. They describe a job title, not a person doing it.

  • Responsible for assisting solicitors with case preparation
  • Highly organised with excellent written communication skills
  • Carried out legal research and general file management

Paralegal résumé questions

How much should I say about the law I have practised?

Be exact about the practice area, because a commercial litigation paralegal and a conveyancing paralegal are not interchangeable. Name the matter types and typical values, and say which documents you draft without supervision, since that is the single question a supervising solicitor is trying to answer.

Do legal qualifications need to be prominent?

Yes. Your LLB, state examination stage, or paralegal qualification belongs high on the page, together with any regulatory registration, because firms screen on it before reading experience. If you are part way through qualification, give the stage and the expected date rather than leaving it ambiguous.

Should I include billable hours?

In private practice, yes, with the target beside it. Recording 1,450 hours against a 1,300 target shows you understand the commercial side of a law firm. In-house and public sector roles do not use the measure, so replace it with matter volume there.
